A LETTER FROM OUR FOUNDER,
KENDALL GARDNER
After the birth of my first daughter, I made a radical shift in the way I mothered myself through those first vulnerable years of motherhood. As I did my best to balance mom life and a career in television, I found myself in the doctor’s office with shooting pains in my head and a bout of shingles explaining to the physician that I was indeed ‘fine.’ My nervous system told a different story. This disconnection drove me to understand the larger scope of mind body connection.
The more I learn, the more I desire to share in community. I created The Ararat, a non-profit organization to address the mental health and nutritional health crisis affecting adolescents. Growing up in the South, there were few conversations about my body, my choices, my emotional health or food as medicine. Talking to my older loved ones, I recognize the gaps in care for women and birthing people extends through generations especially during vulnerable times. We are the caretakers and we also need to be taken care of — holistically.
Through my work, I address the urgent need for a pipeline of preventative solutions that affect women and birthing people. As we nourish women, share experiences and collective wisdom across generations, we nourish the world and destigmatize women’s health issues.
During my postpartum period for my second daughter, I recognized the lack of products made for curvy women to hold our layers in place. Unfit products take a toll on your mental health in a time of vulnerability and healing. Through collective effort, we can build a community that includes us in the conversations and the products. 2024 OUR GENESIS
During those early postpartum months, I create Gardher - a love letter to women and birthing people at their most vulnerable health stages. An impactful intersection of my heart’s desires: to create streamlined solutions that ensure readiness and empowered well-being across generations.
